About the Trailbuilders Trailbuilders

The San Gabriel Mountains Trailbuilders (SGMTB) is an all-volunteer public service organization dedicated to constructing and maintaining hiking trails within the Angeles National Forest (now the San Gabriel National Monument) located in the San Gabriel Mountains of Southern California.

The SGMTB, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, was founded in 1984 and works in close association with the U.S. Forest Service, Log Angeles Gateway District.

We are committed to following environmentally-sound construction principles and working with conservation-minded individuals and agencies to preserve and respect the natural habitat while, at the same time, building trails to provide Angelinos with a wholesome and safe recreational experience as they enjoy the gift of our beautiful mountains.

Our regularly scheduled work days are the first, third, and fifth Saturday of each month; however we perform trail efforts and other projects as they come up which are not normally scheduled, so please contact Ben White to get on our mailing list so that you will be informed when non-scheduled projects take place. Come join us!

The SGMTB participates in annual events such as National Trails Day and California Trails Day; and we also assist young people with Girl Scout Gold Award projects and Boy Scout Eagle Projects, details of which can be found at the Eagle/Gold Projects web page located here.
